Delving into the NORR11 design philosophy

Our design process is driven by curiosity and willingness to challenge conventional thinking, always favoring comfort and functionality from an aesthetic foundation.

Our in-house design studio, led by our founder Tommy Hyldahl and our lead designer Kristian Sofus Hansen, embodies a blend of architectural precision and a trend-forward perspective.

At our studio, we embrace a 360-degree perspective, ensuring that each piece of furniture exudes visual appeal from every angle. The result is a sculptural, bold and sophisticated expression. In our process, we dare to blend time periods, design directions, cultures and materials to craft products that exude attitude and relevance.

We do not follow one particular style or stay within the boundaries of a certain era. Instead, we like to challenge different elements and see what happens when they are brought together.

The fascination lies in finding the right balance between contrasts, creating something that feels unexpected, yet somehow right. Sometimes the references are obvious, sometimes they are more subtle. A single piece can hold several different references and still feel like one complete expression. We keep adjusting, mixing and challenging the different elements until the contrasts start to work together and create a new kind of harmony.

This is what we call the umami of the design. It is that point where something can feel both unexpected and strangely familiar, as if it had always belonged together. It is this freedom to mix what interests us, follow our intuition and create.
